    Express Abandonment

    Definition:
    A patent application may be expressly abandoned by filing a written declaration of abandonment identifying the application in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

    Infringement

    Definition:
    Infringement occurs when someone willingly or unwillingly uses your intellectual property without your permission.

    Simple Piracy

    Definition:
    The unauthorised duplication of an original recording for commercial gain without the consent of the rights owner; the packaging of pirate copies is different from the original.

    Person

    Definition:
    Is defined as any inventor or other individual (e.g., an individual to whom an inventor has transferred some rights in the invention), who has not assigned, granted conveyed, or licensed, and is under no obligation under contract or law to assign any rights in the invention.
